Art & Artifact Handling

Art & Artifact Handling

The physical challenges of a collection can be overwhelming.  Let us help.

What are the qualities of a good Art and Artifact Handling Team?

A team should be respectable as well as knowledgeable about the work they are asked to perform. Also, a team that can cover a wide range of services is preferable to one that has limited, specific skills. Finally, an art and artifact handling team should have proper training, situational expertise and knowledge of materials to successfully deal with the physical challenges of a collection.

Why are these qualities important?

During any type of art and artifact handling work, tight schedules usually mean overlapping work. A team should be tidy, keeping tools and equipment in order and work studiously so that others can also complete their tasks. An art and artifact handling team should be able to provide solutions to the client before problems arise. Finally, competent art and artifact handlers should be able to balance personal safety, the safety of the collection, proper methods and materials, and the final presentation to satisfy all of the clients’ needs.

Why does ELY offer the best Art and Artifact Handlers?

While working for our clients, we are guests in their institutions. Our teams are professional, courteous and highly skilled in all aspects of art and artifact handling. At ELY, we do not rely on transportation to drive our business, and our art and artifact handlers are trained professionals, not drivers who also handle art. We have a company full of these professionals who can provide our clients with all the services that fall under the category of art and artifact handling, such as installations, packing, storage, crate disposal, rigging, transportation coordination, barrier fabrication, small scale case fabrication, engineering, conservation, registration services and even training for other professionals. Our clients appreciate that our experienced art and artifact handling teams can solve any physical challenge presented by a collection.

We provide these services as part of Art and Artifact Handling: Registrar, Courier, Transportation Coordination, Rigging, Conservation, Consultation, Crate Disposal, Barrier Fabrication, Small-scale Case Fabrication, Engineering, Professional Training, Security System Design and Installation, and Lighting.
