Samurai: The Warrior Transformed
Mount Design, Fabrication & Installation
ELY mounted four samurai suits for the National Geographic Museum. The delicate fabrics weighed down by heavy armor presented a unique challenge that was addressed with an elaborate internal structure of bent acrylic and magnets, as well as brass armature to relieve the strain on ties and cords. Assembling the individually mounted pieces into a realistic human form without damaging the fragile gold-wrapped paper threads on the suits was an interesting and challenging puzzle for ELY mountmakers.
